Hyderabad: AICC Telangana in-charge Manickam Tagore has dared the BJP to order an investigation into the State government rather than accusing it of rampant corruption. He accused the IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao and his supporters of adopting corrupt practices and sought investigation by the agencies such IT, ED and CBI.
Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, Tagore pointed out that the inaction of the Centre indicates a tacit understanding between the BJP and TRS. “It is like Dosti in Delhi and Kusti in Hyderabad. Why does every Central Minister who comes to Hyderabad only talk about corruption of TRS when they have all the power to order an investigation?” he asked.
Blaming BJP for trying to divide the society on communal lines for electoral benefits, he alleged that TRS, on the other hand, was distributing money to purchase votes. “Only Congress manifesto addresses the real issues and we hope that our agenda will lead Congress candidates to victory,” he said.
Former Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah asked the BJP leaders to list out the projects that the Centre had granted to Telangana State since its formation. “What happened to the ITIR project which would have created 71 lakh jobs in 30 years?” he asked, and slammed the BJP leaders for stating surgical strikes would be carried out in old city to flush out Rohingyas.
“The BJP government has been in power for 7 years. Why did it allow the Rohingyas to settle in Hyderabad. Is the old city not a part of India?” he asked, and criticised the BJP for not highlighting issues related to development of the city and instead, raking up communal tension.
