Hyderabad: The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA), which is currently pursuing legal remedies seeking affiliation from the BCCI and challenging the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) restrictions on cricketing activities outside the city limits, has announced a dharna at Indira Park on June 7 (Saturday) at 10 am against the HCA’s decision to proceed with the proposed TG20 tournament.
TCA General Secretary Dharm Guruva Reddy informed the media that they had obtained police permission to hold the dharna.
The protest is expected to witness the participation of former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Mahbubnagar MP DK Aruna and former MP BB Patil, along with several current and former cricketers, cricket administrators and TCA office-bearers.
Guruva Reddy said the TCA had expected the HCA to either furnish documentary evidence rebutting the allegations raised by the association or reconsider proceeding with the tournament until all concerns were adequately addressed.
“Instead, the HCA has continued preparations, including the conduct of a players’ auction for eight franchise teams allegedly constituted without following either BCCI guidelines or the provisions of its own bylaws governing commercial cricket events,” he alleged.
Appealing to cricket stakeholders, players, club representatives and cricket enthusiasts to participate in the dharna, he said the protest would provide a platform to hear facts, concerns and viewpoints relating to the future of cricket administration in Telangana.
“The game belongs to the players and stakeholders. We urge everyone who cares about the future of cricket in Telangana to join us and demand transparency, accountability and adherence to established rules and regulations,” Guruva Reddy said.
