Hyderabad: A man, who was desperate to get treatment for his ten-year-old son was allegedly duped by a person in the guise of selling Ayurveda medicine, at Vengalrao Nagar in SR Nagar.
The victim, who is a software employee from Kukatpally, was recently approached by one Durgappa alias Gurrappa, at a shopping mall, and assured there was the best treatment for his son’s ill health.
Police said Durgappa informed the victim that the latter’s son was not much active and suffering from other health issues. His overall growth too was slow, unlike the children of his age.
The suspect claimed his niece who was also inactive and inattentive earlier had improved after treatment. He then took the victim to a shop in SR Nagar. “There at the Ayurveda medicines shop, two persons mixed an unknown substance in an oil bottle and handed over to the victim asking him to massage his son with it for three months,” police said. They charged nearly Rs 1.8 lakh for the medicines and other expenses.
The victim, who followed all the instructions prescribed and massaged, did not find any positive outcome even after three months of the treatment. When he went to the shop to enquire, it was shut and when he tried to contact Durgappa, his mobile phone was switched off. The victim, who realized he was cheated, approached the SR Nagar police and lodged a complaint. The police are investigating.
