Peddapalli: Two coal miners, trapped after the roof collapse in a mine, were rescued on Tuesday and another was located by rescue teams which struggled for over 24 hours after the coal mine roof collapse on Monday, officials said.
Rescuers were inching their way in the underground mine on the rescue mission in the coal mine in Adriyala Longwall Project in RG-III area of Singareni Collieries Company Limited, in Ramagiri mandal.
Out of seven persons including two officers and five workers trapped when the accident occurred, six miners were trapped under coal debris. Another person Veeraiah escaped with minor injuries.
Teams managed to rescue Operator Jadi Venkatesh and Mining Sardhar Pilli Naresh in the night.
Members of rescue team are making serious efforts to rescue Badili Worker Ravinder, who is responding to rescue team members.
However, there was no response from Area Safety Officer Jayaraj, Deputy Manager Tejawath Chaitanya Teja, and contact worker Thota Srikanth.
For the first time in the history of Singareni, a safety officer met with an accident, company source said.
Manthani MLA D Sridhar Babu and Zilla Parishad Chairman Putta Madhukar visited the coal mine and enquired with Singareni officials about the incident. Meanwhile, Ramagundam MLA Korukanti Chander consoled the injured miners in Godavarikhani Singareni Area hospital.
