Telangana: 5k run held in Ramagundam to raise awareness on road safety

Peddapalli: As part of national road safety week, Ramagundam commissionerate traffic police organized a 5k run in Godavarikhani on Sunday.
Commissioner of Police M Srinivas flagged off the run at the commissionerate office. About 200 police personnel and staff participated in the run which reached Gandhi chowk by passing through the municipal office.
Speaking on the occasion, CP said that every year, a number of people have died in road accidents due to not wearing of helmets. So, people must wear helmets while driving two wheeler vehicles and seat belts while driving cars.
For instant enjoyment, some of the youngsters were creating troubles for other vehiculars and people with rash, wrong route and triple riding and leaving parents in sadness by meeting with accidents.
Despite an awareness programme against drunk and drive every year, the cases of drunk and drive have not declined, he said and asked the people to cooperate with police by following traffic rules. Last year, Rs 13 crore fine was collected from traffic rules violators in commissionerate limits, CP informed.
