Kothagudem: Telangana activist, TBGKS Central Committee member Rasuri Shankar (58) died in a road accident during late evening hours here on Monday.
The accident occurred near Dhanbad area when Shankar was crossing the road on a motorbike, which was hit from behind by a speeding two-wheeler. He fell down and sustained serious head injuries. The locals rushed him to Singareni Main Hospital.
The doctors referred to a hospital in Hyderabad as his condition was critical and that he was bleeding from his nose and ears due to a severe head injury. Shankar died on his way to Hyderabad.
BRS district president Rega Kantha Rao, TBGKS leader Kapu Krishna and others expressed grief over Shankar’s death, which they said was an irreparable loss to the party. The BRS would stand by the grieving family, they said.
Shankar actively took part in Telangana Statehood movement and played a key role in TBGKS getting elected as the recognised labour union. He was the president of the Association for the Protection of Contract Workers’ Rights.
