Hyderabad: The State government has increased the honorarium to anganwadi teachers, mini anganwadi teachers and anganwadi helpers by 30 per cent over the existing honorarium with effect from July 7, 2021.

In all, as many as 67,411 anganwadi staff would benefit from the State government’s decision. Anganwadi teachers will be getting enhanced honorarium of Rs.13,650 against existing Rs.10,500 while mini-anganwadi teachers and anganwadi helpers will get Rs.7,800 honorarium against existing Rs.6,000.

Women and Child Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod said the State government has been increasing the salaries of anganwadi staff after Statehood. Slamming the Central government for ignoring the welfare of anganwadi staff, she said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao increased the salaries of anganwadi staff thrice.

Every month for payment of honorarium to anganwadis, the State government is spending Rs.71 crore, out of which the Central government share is only Rs.13.68 crore i.e. only 19 per cent of honorarium incurred every month. The State government is bearing 81 per cent on payment of honorarium to anganwadis, she said. Before the BJP government came to power, the Central government’s share in the salaries of anganwadi staff was 90 per cent while the State’s share was 10 per cent. After BJP came to power, the Centre’s share was reduced to 60 per cent as against 90 per cent.

The Centre later took a decision to increase the State’s share to 40 per cent as against 10 per cent.

The Minister called upon the staff not to believe in false information spread by the BJP leaders in Telangana. “It is only the TRS government that is catering to the needs of the staff in the State,” she said, asking BJP leaders to stop speaking lies and misleading their high command in New Delhi.
