The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education  (TGBIE) recently found that some examiners distributed answer slips (chits) to students on live CCTV surveillance, while a few examiners intentionally left examination halls unattended to allow external material.

Furthermore, some examiners awarded marks to students even before the exam concluded and a few had the evaluation work done by others.

In addition, the Board noticed that cameras at some centres were reported offline or blinking when malpractice was initiated, suggesting intentional tampering.

This year, over 14,000 CCTV cameras were set up in the government, government-sector and private junior colleges across the State. These cameras integrated with the command control room (CCR) established at the Board aided in reporting of irregularities to authorities concerned for immediate action.

The CCR ensured real-time monitoring and guaranteed free and fair examinations. It enhanced transparency and prevented malpractice, said the TGBIE.

A total of 3,11,011 general stream students in 34,400 sessions and 90,254 vocational students in 16,000 sessions appeared for practical exams held in 1,440 general stream and 484 vocational centres, so far.

Meanwhile, 49,748 students were allotted and 48,822 took the practical examination conducted on Wednesday. The practical exams will conclude on February 21 and theory examinations will commence from February 25.
