Suryapet: Former Minister and Suryapet MLA G Jagadish Reddy on Wednesday ridiculed the Congress government over Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy’s remarks that his phone was being tapped by BRS leaders. He called the claim shameful and absurd.
Speaking to the media after casting his vote in the municipal elections in Suryapet, Jagadish Reddy questioned how a ruling party minister could allege phone tapping by the Opposition.
“If a Minister says his phone is being tapped while he is in power, it only shows the failure of the Home Minister and the government,” he said.
He termed the allegation an indirect admission of incompetence. “Are they saying there is no policing in the State? If tapping is happening, does the government not have the authority and efficiency to find out who is responsible?” he asked.
The former Minister said the police machinery had been reduced to acting at the behest of the Congress leaders and targeting BRS leaders. He dismissed the charge that the BRS government was involved in phone-tapping.
“We have repeatedly stated that even the phones of Ministers were under surveillance of the present Congress government. But there has been no action,” he added.
Jagadish Reddy accused the Congress of attempting to gain electoral advantage through baseless conspiracy theories during the municipal polls. He said outreach to government employees during the election period reflected the ruling party’s lack of public support. He reiterated that people were ready to restore the K Chandrashekhar Rao government in the next Assembly elections.
