Telangana braces for statewide shutdown over NEET-UG paper leak protests

Telangana faces a statewide shutdown of educational institutions and protests led by student organisations, unemployed youth, and the BRS over the NEET-UG paper leak issue, police recruitment vacancies, and alleged government inaction. KT Rama Rao will join the demonstrations in Hyderabad, while student groups demand Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation and abolition of the National Testing Agency.

Hyderabad: This Friday, Telangana is set for a day of protests as the left student organisations have called for shutdown of all educational institutions over incidents linked to the NEET UG paper leak issue, the BRSV has announced a massive protest at Dharna Chowk.

The unemployed youth have also announced statewide bandh, demanding the Congress government fulfil its Assembly election campaign promises, including recruitment to two lakh vacancies.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao will participate in a protest in solidarity against the brutal crackdown on students and youth who called for ‘Chalo Sansad March’ in Delhi demanding Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the NEET UG paper leak issue.

In a post on X, Rama Rao said, “The voice of India’s youth cannot be crushed through force. I will be joining the BRSV protest tomorrow at 10:00 am at Indira Park, Hyderabad, in solidarity against the brutal crackdown on students and youth in Delhi. I appeal to students, youth and everyone who believes in democracy to join us in standing up for the constitutional right to dissent”.

In protest against the lathi-charge on students during protest against the NEET-UG question paper leak issue, left student organisations called for shutdown of educational institutions across the State.

Apart from demanding a transparent inquiry into the incidents in Delhi, the SFI, AISF, NSUI, PDSU, AIFDS, AIDSO, AISB and AIPSU wanted the Union Minister to resign over the paper leak issue. They also want the Central government to abolish the National Testing Agency (NTA) and withdraw the proposed Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025.

Meanwhile, the unemployed youth, who have been staging a series of protests over the last few months, want the government to immediately notify all vacancies for recruitment. 

The police job aspirants’ JAC also sought revoking of GO No. 46 (GO 46 → GO No. 46) and demanded that appointments be done in a transparent manner. They wanted the government to increase vacancies in police recruitment.
