Yadadri-Bhongir: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said Telangana has all the potential to emerge as the richest State in the country if all sections of society participate in the economic development of the State. “If we continue with our efforts in this direction for some more time, you (the people) will also reap the benefits of development,” he said.
Stating that the progressive policies of the State government had brought about a qualitative change in the lives of the people, the Chief Minister asked government employees to continue with their sincere efforts in the implementation of welfare schemes and development programmes for some more time that would help the State achieve the goal.
Underlining the need to simplify the service rules in the State, the Chief Minister said the service book of an employee is a bundle of papers on which officials can write anything as per their wish. “The service book should reflect everything about the employees, clearly mentioning when they would get promotions and details of the promoted post. On the day of retirement, the employee should be felicitated in the office and handed over retirement benefits the same day, and the retired employee should be sent home from his office in a government vehicle,” Chandrashekhar Rao said, addressing a gathering of officials after inaugurating the Integrated District Collectorate complex in Bhongir.
He said he fought with the Centre and achieved the zonal system that facilitates the State government to provide 95 per cent quota to locals in all government jobs. Stating that the Telangana employees’ salary was better than Central government employees, he said their salaries would be increased further.
Stating that stabilisation of the agriculture sector and improvement in groundwater levels had brought about a change in the lives of the people, he said 2,061 agricultural clusters were set up in the State and Rythu Vedikas were constructed to support the farmers. “Farmers earlier were forced to drill borewells up to 800 to 900 ft depth in Bhongir, Alair and Thurkapally areas. But, now, the groundwater level is just 20 to 30 feet due to the filling up of irrigation tanks with river waters. Restoration of irrigation tanks under Mission Kakatiya also ensure storage of the water in them,” he added.
The Chief Minister said irrigation tanks, earlier, were not in a condition to store rainwater due to which water used to flow onto the roads during rains. He pointed out that a rail accident took place at Alair due to the overflowing of a small irrigation tank after rain. He reminded that 10,000 to 20,000 irrigation tanks remained useless in Telangana before State formation.
Stating that Dalit Bandhu should not be seen just like a scheme extending Rs 10 lakh financial assistance, he said it was aimed at bringing self-respect to Dalits. Dalits were now getting their share in setting up fertilizer shops, medical shops and liquor shops.
Stating that villages were also witnessing rapid development, he said that no one even dreamt that every village would have a tractor, dumping yard and vaikunta dhamam(graveyard). But, the villager got all these facilities after the formation of Telangana State, he said.
Stating that state-of-art Collectorate buildings were constructed in all the districts, he said that they should ensure best services to the people. Ministers G Jagadish Reddy, A Indrakaran Reddy and Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Chief Secretary to the Government Somesk Kumar, MLCs A Narsi Reddy and Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, district Collector Pamela Sathathi and several MLAs attended the programme.
