Hyderabad: In a major breakthrough against illegal gambling, the Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) has uncovered a widespread online betting racket operating across Rajasthan, Gujarat and Punjab and arrested eight online betting operators.
According to officials, the suspects were running betting operations through six mobile applications — Taj0077, Fairply.live, Andhra365, Vlbook, Telugu365, and Yes365.
“These platforms were allegedly used to lure thousands of unsuspecting users into wagering money, causing heavy financial losses to the citizens,” CID officials said.
As part of the operation, six dedicated CID teams were dispatched to different locations across the three states. The searches resulted in the seizure of multiple hardware devices, servers, and digital storage units, which contain huge volumes of crucial data relating to the illegal transactions and betting records.
Preliminary investigations suggest that while the arrested operators managed the ground-level activities, the main masterminds behind the betting network are likely based abroad.
Efforts are underway to trace the international links and identify the kingpins who coordinate the operations from overseas.
The CID has urged citizens to remain vigilant against online betting scams and report suspicious activities through cybercrime helplines. Further investigation is continuing to map out the financial trail, examine the seized data.
