Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samiti Party President and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is likely for Maharashtra on Monday on a two-day visit. He is slated to visit the Lord Vithoba temple at Pandharpur and the Tulja Bhavani temple at Tuljapur during the visit.
Accompanied by a host of senior functionaries of the party, he will be travelling by road, reaching out to people in villages en route to Pandharpur and on his way back, according to party sources, who said the Chief Minister would interact with the partymen who are in the thick of organizational activity as part of the membership drive launched over a month ago in Maharashtra.
The party cadre is gearing up to accord a rousing welcome to him at Omerga in Osmanabad district, where he is likely to interact with them during a brief stopover. Political leaders from different parties are also planning to meet him in the town before he sets out for Pandharpur.
A large number of devotees, especially farmers, reach Pandharpur during this time praying for a good monsoon and good harvest. Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao will have darshan of the presiding deities on Tuesday along with some of his cabinet colleagues.
The Bharat Rashtra Samiti, which made its foray into the Maharashtra with the Chief Minister’s ‘Ab ki Baar Kisan Sarkar’ slogan echoing in every nook and cranny of the State, has made elaborate arrangements at the temple for the occasion. Flower petals will be showered engaging a helicopter on the farmers who reach the temple town walking long distances.
Later, the Chief Minister will leave for Tuljapur where he will offer prayers to Goddess Tulja Bhavani. The BRS, which has been making deep inroads into rural Maharastra, has grabbed the attention of the farming community and the women by promising to implement the Telangana Model of Development to end their water woes if voted to power.
The Chief Minister, who preferred to travel by road, is likely to utilize the trip as a stocktaking mission to make out the pulse of the people, party sources said.
Chandrashekhar Rao had inaugurated the party’s first office at Nagpur on June 15 as part of his ambitious plan to consolidate the support base of the organization.
