Hyderabad: Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) has appealed to the BCCI to enforce the mandates of Rule 3(d) and Rule 3(b)(3), and derecognize the non-compliant Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). Rule 3(a)(iii)(B) facilitates induction of an Associate Member from a State where a regional full member already exists. Other States like Gujarat, Maharashtra and Chandigarh (UT) have three members each.
“Hence, we submit that TCA should be recognized as the rightful member representing the State of Telangana,” TCA general secretary Guruva Reddy said in a statement.
“The BCCI has the power and discretion to appoint a committee on a time-bound term to restructure Telangana cricket by recognizing TCA covering the entire 32 districts outside Hyderabad City, on a priority basis, if BCCI prefers HCA to continue operating in Hyderabad City,” he said.
“The BCCI itself formally acknowledged this structural illegality on July 11, 2021, directing HCA to collaborate with TCA and complete statewide integration within six months. This directive recognized TCA as the only body with a State-wide footprint capable of representing all districts. However, in the last four years, HCA failed to comply, and the directive remains unimplemented. The consequence has been a continuing denial of opportunities, recognition, and access for thousands of talented players across the State,” the TCA general secretary said.
“This is not a political claim but a long-overdue correction of a decade-long injustice. Telangana’s districts, youth and cricketing ecosystem deserve their rightful identity — and TCA is the only body prepared, capable and legitimately positioned to deliver it in Telangana,” the TCA official added.
