Hyderabad: The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) has formally lodged a complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), alleging that the proposed G Venkata Swamy Memorial Inter-District T20 league cricket championship is in “violation of BCCI rules and binding orders”.
“The league was not approved by the BCCI and conducting it without compliance or approval is nothing but repetition of an illegality,” the TCA stated.
“The tournament is also a grave conflict of interest, with multiple and direct violations under BCCI Rule 38. In the wake of recent arrests of top HCA officials and ongoing investigations by the CID, ACB and ED, the same family/group is going ahead with this tournament,” the TCA alleged.
“Importantly, the tournament is being conducted without adherence to HCA or BCCI Codes of Conduct, and is being held at the discretion of a select few individuals of HCA with vested interests,” the TCA complained.
“Amidst this backdrop, we humbly appeal to the BCCI to stop the proposed T20 tournament and direct the HCA to refrain from conducting any inter-district cricket tournaments until compliance with BCCI directives, disposal of pending High Court and Supreme Court matters, and resolution of district-cricket governance issues in Telangana,” the TCA appealed.
