Telangana: DCA teams raid medical shops, seize 3 medicines for misleading claims
The teams detected two Ayurvedic and one Allopathic medicine with misleading claims that they can treat leprosy, diabetes, blood pressure and urinary stones
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Drug Control Administration (TGDCA) detected three medicines being sold in medical shops with misleading claims in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana State. During the course of raids, the DCA teams detected two Ayurvedic and one Allopathic medicine with misleading claims that they can treat leprosy, diabetes, blood pressure and urinary stones.
The DCA teams seized stocks of Ayurvedic medicines Podapathri Churnam and Arjuna Churman, manufactured by Arogya Rama Herbals, Shamirpet, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, in medical shops at Kompally, being sold with misleading claim that they can treat leprosy, diabetes and blood pressure respectively.
The DCA teams also seized stocks of AbiSTONE-B6 Syrup (Allopathic), being sold with a misleading claim of treating urinary stones and manufactured by Biocore Pharmaceuticals, Baddi, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, during raids at medical shops in Bhupalapally.
Persons who make misleading advertisements regarding drugs for treatment of certain diseases and disorders are punishable under Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954 and Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 r/w Rule 106, Schedule J of Drugs Rules, 1945, DG, TSDCA, V B Kamlasan Reddy in a press release said.
