Telangana deluged: Heavy rains lash State for the second day
Heavy rains continued to lash Telangana for the second day, with Bejjur recording 236.8 mm. The State's daily rainfall average was three times the norm. IMD has forecast continued downpour across districts, with red alerts for Mulugu and Bhupalapally.

Hyderabad: For the second consecutive day, the districts of Telangana, especially the northern ones, experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours. Bejjur in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad recorded the maximum of 236.8 mm of rainfall, followed by Venkatapuram, in Mulugu district, with 218.5 mm.
Heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorms, are expected to continue across all districts of Telangana until July 27, the Hyderabad MET department’s weather forecast indicated on Thursday.
The entire State’s day average rainfall between 8.30 am on Wednesday to 8.30 am on Thursday was 25.5 mm, significantly higher than the normal of 8.5 mm, according to rainfall data from the Telangana State Development Society (TSDPS).
Some of the other districts that bore the brunt of very heavy rainfall were Pochampalli in Karimnagar, which recorded 145.0 mm, Karimnagar town, which witnessed 125.5 mm, Mangapet in Mulugu, which recorded 122.8 mm, Mallampally in Mulugu recorded 118.8 mm, and Gangipalli in Karimnagar witnessed 116.8 mm of rainfall.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad MET department on Thursday, in its forecast, has indicated heavy rainfall across multiple regions in Telangana till Sunday, July 27, 2025. The IMD-Hyderabad has also issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning (115.6 mm to 204.5 mm) to Jayashankar Bhupalapally and Mulugu districts on Friday.
The heavy rainfall warning (64.5 mm to 115.6 mm) has been issued for Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Khammam, Medak, and Kamareddy till Sunday.
