Hyderabad: The State government has officially designated the National Informatics Centre (NIC) as the new technology partner for the Dharani Integrated Land Records Management System (ILRMS). This decision was announced in an order released on Tuesday, marking a significant shift in the management of this vital platform.
This decision comes as the existing contract with the current vendor, TerraCIS, is set to expire on November 30, 2024. Since its launch in 2020, the Dharani portal has served as a centralised hub for land-related transactions and information in Telangana.
The State government decided to collaborate with NIC considering its extensive expertise in land record management and ensure the continued smooth operation of the Dharani portal. Under the new arrangement, the NIC will take over the operations and maintenance of the Dharani portal for an initial period of three years, with the possibility of a two-year extension based on performance.
This partnership aims to enhance the operational efficiency and transparency of the Dharani portal, ensuring it continues to provide seamless service for land transactions across the state.
The Congress government proposed to bring a new Revenue Act i.e. Telangana Record of Rights Act and also replace the Dharani portal with Bhumatha as part of its land reforms. The Congress leadership is keen to revive old revenue system, citing problems in the Dharani portal and ILRMS.
