Telangana: Dharur Sub Inspector arrested for taking Rs 30,000 bribe

The Sub Inspector demanded the bribe through his driver from one person for granting station bail and removing the names of his family members from the case

Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday caught a Sub Inspector working in Dharur police station of Vikarabad and his driver for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.

The Sub Inspector, P Venu Gopal Goud, demanded Rs 30,000 through his driver, K Beerappa, from one person for granting station bail and removing the names of his family members from the case.

Based on a complaint, the ACB registered a case and trapped Beerappa while he accepted the bribe amount of Rs 30,000 from the complainant at the instance of the Sub Inspector.

Venu Gopal Goud and Beerappa were arrested and were produced before the court.
