Telangana DSP booked in DA case; ACB raids 16 locations

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered a disproportionate assets case against DSP Sankireddy Bheem Reddy and conducted searches at 16 locations across the state.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted searches at 16 locations across Telangana on Thursday after registering a disproportionate assets case against Sankireddy Bheem Reddy, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Police Computer Services (PCS), Hyderabad, for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income during his service. 

The searches were carried out at the officer’s residence and 15 other premises belonging to his relatives, friends, benamidars (benami holders) and associates.

According to the ACB, the officials unearthed documents relating to several movable and immovable properties, including a villa at Vessella Meadows in Ibrahim Bagh, a ground plus two storied residential house with a penthouse and a flat in Telecom Nagar, another flat in Gachibowli, two flats in Tellapur, commercial properties in Manikonda, open plots in Hyderabad, Patancheru and Vikarabad, agricultural lands in Sangareddy and Karnataka, besides an acre of land in Devanahalli near Bengaluru. Documents relating to an investment of Rs. 75 lakh in a rock sand minerals firm were also recovered.

During the raids, the ACB seized cash worth approximately Rs. 43.60 lakh, including Rs. 3.60 lakh from the residence of the officer and Rs. 40 lakh from the house of an alleged benami. Officials also recovered about two kilograms of gold ornaments, 20 kilograms of silver articles and bank balances of approximately Rs. 19.91 lakh.

The ACB said the market value of the immovable properties is likely to be several times higher than the registered document value. Officials also recovered 23 foreign liquor bottles from the DSP’s residence and informed the Excise Department to take further action.

Further verification of additional assets is underway, and the disproportionate assets case is under investigation, the ACB said.
