Hyderabad: The Telangana Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (TG EAPCET) results have revealed a continuing downward trend in qualifying percentages, particularly in the engineering streams for the last four consecutive years.

According to official data, the qualifying percentage in the engineering stream has dropped from 80.42 in 2022 to 73.26 in 2025. The decline, though can be found to be gradual with 80.42 per cent in 2022, 80.34 per cent in 2023, 74.98 per cent in 2024 to present 73.26 per cent.

In the AP stream, the trend is slightly different with signs of fluctuation. The qualifying percentage was 88.34 in 2022 and slipped to 86.31 per cent in 2023. It saw an increase to 89.67 percent in 2024, but again dipped to 87.82 per cent this year.

The JNTU-Hyderabad officials, who hold the TG EAPCET every year, attributed the drop in qualifying percentage to standards in the intermediate education.

“Of late we have seen an uptick in the number of applications for the engineering stream as students want to make a career joining the CSE programme. However, there is no uptick in qualifying percentage due to education standards of students in the intermediate,” officials added.
