Telangana enhances superannuation age of regular faculty in universities
This decision was taken based on a report by the Telangana Council of Higher Education, which highlighted the acute shortage of faculty due to retirements
Hyderabad: The State government has enhanced the superannuation age of regular faculty working in the State universities from 60 to 65 years.
An order to this effect was issued by Education Department Secretary Dr Yogita Rana on January 28, but it became public on Thursday. This has been a long-pending demand of faculty in universities.
This decision was taken based on a report by the Telangana Council of Higher Education, which highlighted the acute shortage of faculty due to retirements.
“After careful examination of the matter, hereby enhance the age of superannuation of regular teachers working in the State Universities of the Telangana under the administrative control of the Higher Education Department from 60 years to 65 years,” the order read.
“The enhanced age of superannuation is applicable only to the teaching faculty, who are drawing UGC Scale of pay in the State Universities of Telangana under the administrative control of Higher Education Department,” the order further said.
