KARIMNAGAR: A farmer Kasu Machaiah was allegedly attacked and pushed into an agricultural well by the staff of the national highway construction company.

A native of Gollapalli of Shankarapatnam mandal, Machaiah lost his agricultural well located in survey number 17 in the outskirts of the village under the construction of national highway 563.

Though other farmers got compensation, Machaiah has not been paid compensation so far. On the other hand, DBL company, which was engaged in the construction of a national highway, recently closed a portion of the well.

However, Machaiah, who was opposing it, prevented well closer works on Monday. Company’s site engineer Niranjan reportedly attacked Machaiah and pushed him into a partially closed well.

Meanwhile, the victim’s son rushed to the spot and pulled him out of the well with the help of a rope. Later, he was shifted to Huzurabad hospital as he fell unconscious. In the evening, Machaiah lodged a complaint with the police.

Based on the complaint, police visited the spot and enquired about the incident.

On the other hand, the site engineer filed a counter complaint stating that Machaiah prevented their works and abused him with filthy language. RDO officials stalled Machaiah’s compensation due to a mismatch of his survey number, he informed to police.
