Telangana govt approves decades-old request of GHMC staffers

Hyderabad: Sankranti turned more festive for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) employees living in quarters allocated to them, with the State government deciding to regularise these dwellings for them.
Following the decision, the staffers staying in GHMC residential quarters located at Ramgopalpet, Audaiah Nagar, New Bhoiguda and MCH Colony and Amberpet can now register the houses in their names at a nominal cost.
This gift from the State government given on a festive occasion was announced by Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and the order that permits the conversion of GHMC leasehold quarters into freehold was issued by Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar.
Speaking to the beneficiaries here, Srinivas Yadav said, “Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who is striving hard for the wellbeing of poor and middle income groups has very generously decided to regularise these quarters,”.
The beneficiaries who were overwhelmed with joy at the decision thanked the Chief Minister, K.Chandrashekhar Rao and MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao for accepting their decades old request and also lauded the efforts of Srinivas Yadav for following-up on the issue.
MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao and the subcommittee had taken a favourable decision in a recent meeting on the regularisation of government quarters, following which the order to regularise quarters was released by MA&UD Department addressing the GHMC Commissioner.
Digital library in Secunderabad soon
A digital library is being built in Audiah Nagar, Secunderabad with an estimated cost of Rs 4 crore . Disclosing this, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said, “the facility that is being built should be utilised especially by the youth.”
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has already demolished the existing library in Audiah Nagar and is constructing a new one.
