Hyderabad: A two-judge panel of the Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B Vijaysen Reddy on Tuesday came down heavily on the State government and S Kista Goud, who was Divisional Forest Officer of Warangal district (South).
The panel was dealing with a batch of contempt appeals filed by S Kista Goud, currently District Forest Officer, Mahabubabad, and others against an order of imprisonment of two weeks and a fine of Rs 2,000.
Earlier, a single judge in a contempt petition filed by Vajja Rajababu punished the contemnor for willfully violating the orders of the court. The single judge had specifically directed the contemnors not to interfere in the compartment No. 851 of Kothaguda Range, Warangal.
The counsel for Vajja Rajababu also pointed out to the panel that though the court had suspended the order of imprisonment upon payment of the fine within 6 months from the date of earlier order, the contemnor have failed to make such payment and deposited the amount very recently after six months without seeking any extension from the court.
The panel pointed out why the contemnors were not present before the court even in the virtual hearing of the case especially when a contempt appeal is filed by them. Additional Advocate General appearing for the contemnor informed the court that all the contemnors would be physically present for the next hearing.
HC to the aid of abandoned woman
Justice K Abhinand Kumar Shavili of the High Court came to the rescue of a woman who was abandoned by her husband and no maintenance is being paid to her since 2016 even after the court ordered to do so. In a writ filed by Deepika Komra, the petitioner pleaded for impounding the passport of her husband as he absconded to Italy by obtaining the same through illegal means and suppressing facts. The Consulate General of India in Milan is also a party to this case. The matter is posted for further hearing to April 12.
