Telangana govt moots idea to name streets after corporate companies
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has proposed naming Hyderabad’s streets after corporate companies, breaking away from the tradition of naming them after political leaders. He also invited global universities like Harvard, Stanford and Oxford to set up campuses in the city.

Hyderabad : Telangana Government has mooted the idea of naming different streets after corporate companies.
“We will name important roads in Hyderabad after corporates. In India, most roads are named after political leaders. Let us change that trend in Hyderabad to have Google or Meta or TCS Infosys Street” Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said while addressing the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) in New Delhi on Thursday.
Inviting top global academic institutions, the Chief Minister said once Harvard, Stanford or Oxford set up their offshore campus in Hyderabad, many students from the South can attend these Ivy League programmes because of easier visa rules and lower costs.
He said Bharat Future City would be India’s most developed, world-class city in 30,000 acres. “After rejuvenation, Musi river front will match the experience of London, Tokyo, Dubai or Seoul. It will add a night economy cycle for the city” the Chief Minister said.
Briefing about the projects to create a dry port, Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion, Regional Ring Road and others, the Chief Minister said “Telangana is aiming to become the global answer to the China 1 alternative”.
