Nalgonda: Communist Party of India (Marxist) Thammineni Veerabhadram on Tuesday alleged that the statement of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao asking the farmers not to take up the cultivation of paddy was tantamount to supporting the Central government’s decision.
Speaking at a media conference here on Tuesday, Veerarabhadram said that the Centre conspired to discourage the paddy cultivation on the diktat of the US. The Chief Minister might have asked the people to take up the cultivation of paddy and fight for their purchase to mount pressure on the Centre. The left party would also join the agitation if the Chief Minister to do so.
He alleged that TRS and BJP were dilly-dallying on paddy procurement to mislead the farmers. He questioned why the TRS government kept quiet when the letter was sent to it by the Centre on the stoppage of procurement of the paddy. He pointed out that the TRS had supported all the Bills including demonetisation, CAA and GST, which were introduced by the BJP government in the last seven years. He strongly criticised the Telangana government for supporting anti-people Bills of the Modi-led government.
Relied on satellite images
Coming down heavily on the Telangana government for its policy on podu lands, he said that the State government was taking only satellite images as evidence for podu land cultivation as against 25 evidences listed in RoFR Act. The cultivated forest lands without embankment in satellite images would not be recognised as podu lands, he noted.
