The petitioner complained that apart from creating nuisance, pub customers were throwing bottles into the residential areas. Medical reports Justice B Vijaysen Reddy of Telangana High Court on Friday directed the superintendent of Gandhi Hospital to place the medical reports of B Bhum Boi, who was allegedly subjected to physical torture in police custody. The judge directed the authorities to furnish all the details pertaining to the condition of Boi when he was admitted to Gandhi Hospital. The court was dealing with a writ petition filed by Bhum Boi’s wife and People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) contending that Boi was beaten up brutally in police custody. Bhum Boi’s wife contended that he had sustained serious injuries on his head following indiscriminate torture by Bichkunda police. When they found him in an unconscious state, the family took him to Banswada government hospital and later to Nizamabad government hospital.
Even when there was no response in a private hospital in Nizamabad, he was shifted to Gandhi Hospital on November 10. He died the next day. The counsel for the petitioner argued that the death was caused by the police and an FIR had to be lodged against police personnel. However, the police registered a case of suspicious death and there was no further probe into the complaint, he said.
