Hyderabad: The medical and health employees unions from Telangana on Friday objected to the move by Director of Public Health (DPH) to implement Aadhaar-based attendance system in all districts of the State.

“Without consulting with the department employees, the DPH on Friday issued a circular (No. 7710/plg (b)/2025) ordering for implementation of Aadhaar-based attendance system, which is unacceptable to us,” Telangana United Medical and Health Employees Union State president Md Fasiuddin, and general secretary K Yada Nayak said.

They questioned the timing and intention of such a circular. “There is already a biometric attendance system being implemented in Health Department. Why the State government wants to introduce Aadhaar-based attendance system now? What is the intention behind this direction?” they questioned.

Since Health is service sector, right from grade IV healthcare worker to doctors, everybody in the department performs their duties, even after coming back home. There are paramedical and field-level employees who work in two to three villages in a day, they said.

“Effective supervision by senior officials over employees at lower level is enough to improve quality of healthcare services. Instead of focusing on such measures, authorities are barking at the wrong tree. If they do not recall the circular, then we will sit together and decide our future course of action,” Yada Nayak said.
