Hyderabad: A two judge panel of the Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice A Rajasekar Reddy on Wednesday directed the State Government to respond in a contempt appeal in connection with the Kaleshwaram lands.
A contempt plea was filed by T Venu, Superintendent Engineer, CAD Department, Kaleshwaram Project. Earlier, the panel headed by the Chief Justice directed the Telangana Government to deposit Rs 2,000 per head. It was further observed on Wednesday that the petitioners have had no livelihood since the last 3 years and lands have been acquired without any rehabilitation. The counsel appearing for the petitioner, Ch Ravi Kumar contended that most marginalised sections of the community have been affected. The panel further observed that everyone is collectively responsible for the delay and directed that any matter pertaining to Kaleshwaram Project will be heard at once. The matter has been adjourned to December 3 for further hearing.
Direction to CCLA The same panel on Wednesday directed the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration and Ranga Reddy District Collector to see to it that no construction takes place in the land allotted to All India Velma Association and Kamma Vari Seva Sangala Samakya. Senior Counsel S Satyam Reddy appearing for the petitioners in a batch of PILs contended that prime public property has been allotted to one of the richest communities in Telangana which is not even for any educational or health purposes. He further stated that each acre in Hitech City is worth more than Rs 50 crore and added that it cannot be merely disbursed without any substantial reason. The panel directed that any construction activities done shall be subject to the final order. The matter has been adjourned to January 3 for further hearing.
Use A4 paper for all proceedings The High Court ensured that it fell in line with the green requirements, with an order to ensure use of A4 size paper for all its proceedings.
The panel comprising Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Rajasekar Reddy ordered that the issue of using A4 size paper with matter printed on both sides of the page was included in the administrative committee of the full court to ensure its implementation. A circular will be issued immediately and all the filings will be on A4 size papers printed on both sides.
The panel was hearing a writ plea filed by an advocate, Mayur Mundra, who sought to mandate the use of A4 size papers, printed on both sides for all judicial purposes in the High Court of Telangana and all subordinate courts.
The petitioner argued that the excess use of paper has serious implications on paper pollution. He further contended that chlorine-based bleaches are used during production which results in toxic materials being released into water, air and soil and added that almost 386 million hectares of forest was lost in the last 2 decades.
