Hyderabad: The High Court has refused to quash an FIR against former MLA Jeevan Reddy in a land dispute case filed in the Erllapally village of Ranga Reddy district.

Justice K Lakshman dismissed the petition filed by Jeevan Reddy and his family. The case stems from a complaint lodged by Damodar Reddy, a resident of Chevella, at the Chevella police station in May 2024. According to the complaint, Jeevan Reddy and his family had illegally occupied a piece of land belonging to Damodar Reddy.

The complainant alleged that Jeevan Reddy, upon questioning, had threatened him with lethal weapons and used intimidation tactics. Damodar Reddy stated in his complaint that he had purchased 20 acres and 20 guntas of land in 2022 in survey numbers 32, 35, 36, and 38, located in the outskirts of Earllapalli. According to him, the land had been under his possession since then.

Damodar further accused Jeevan Reddy and his family, including his wife Rajitha and mother Rajubai, of illegally occupying half of his land in 2023. He also claimed that Jeevan Reddy had demolished the function hall and started construction of a new building. In an attempt to resolve the dispute, Damodar Reddy claimed that Jeevan Reddy resorted to threats, identifying him as part of a “Bihar-Punjabi gang.”

As a result, Damodar Reddy approached the police, and a case was registered against Jeevan Reddy and his family. Jeevan Reddy and his family members filed a petition in the High Court, claiming that the case was politically motivated and asking for the FIR to be quashed. The High Court dismissed the petition permitting the legal proceedings to continue.
