Telangana honours swimmers Shivani Karra and Vritti Agarwal for national success
Telangana felicitated swimmers Shivani Karra and Vritti Agarwal for their outstanding performances at the Senior National Aquatics Championship in Ahmedabad. Shivani earned selection for the Asian Age Group Swimming Championships, while Vritti won three medals and set a new national record

Hyderabad: Telangana’s talented swimmers Shivani Karra and Vritti Agarwal were felicitated for their impressive performances in the recent Senior National Aquatics Championship in Ahmedabad.
Mr Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary to the State Government, and Mrs Soni Bala Devi, VC & MD of SATG, graced the event.
Shivani has been selected to represent India at the 12th Asian Age Group Swimming Championships 2026.
Vritti delivered an exceptional performance by winning a gold medal in the 400m freestyle, a silver medal in the 800m freestyle, and a bronze medal in the 1500m freestyle. She also created a new national record and Best Indian Performance in the 800m freestyle with a timing of 9:05.47, surpassing the 15-year-old national record set by Richa Mishra in 2011.
Dr Sonibala Devi also congratulated Shivani Karra and Vritti Agarwal for bringing laurels to the State and representing India on the international stage.
Mr Umesh, Secretary of the Telangana Swimming Association, and coach Ayush Yadav were also present.
