Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader and former Minister G Jagadish Reddy stated on Sunday that A Revanth Reddy’s rise to the Chief Minister’s post was the misfortune of Telangana.
Addressing a news conference here on Sunday, he made a scathing attack on the Congress government for letting down the people of the State. Describing Revanth Reddy’s elevation as the Chief Minister of the State as the “karma” of the people of Telangana, Jagadish Reddy accused the CM of changing his tone and language after assuming power.
“Earlier, people used to say ‘Mukhyamantri Maarindu’. Now, some are saying your language itself has changed. But after the HILT scam came to light, you are speaking whatever comes to your mind,” the former Minister alleged.
Taking a dig at Revanth Reddy’s earlier statement that people had ‘punished’ K Chandrashekhar Rao in the elections, Jagadish Reddy retorted, saying if winning and losing elections was considered just a punishment, Rahul Gandhi was being repeatedly punished by the people. The BRS leader challenged the Chief Minister on his government’s performance in Nalgonda district over the past two years.
‘Tell us, Revanth Reddy, what have you done for Nalgonda in these two years?” he asked, also criticising the Congress government over the tragic incident at the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel where eight workers lost their lives. “Even now, you have failed to retrieve the bodies of those eight people who died in the SLBC tunnel. What kind of incompetent person are you?” he questioned.
Highlighting the achievements of the previous BRS regime, the former Minister said the BRS government had provided employment to 10,000 people through the Yadadri Thermal Power Station alone.
