Hyderabad: Hitting back at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over his remarks against BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao, party working president KT Rama Rao retorted that the former should first learn to run the government without seeking commissions and fulfill electoral promsies rather than misleading people with diversion politics.
He reminded that Chandrashekhar Rao had made four crore Telangana people to fight and live with self-respect by realising the State of Telangana.
He took a dig at the Chief Minister, stating that while Chandrashekhar Rao concreted his position in Telangana’s history, Revanth Reddy gained his position through “lottery”.
“The BRS chief is capable of standing without the help of a stick. But, you first start running the government without seeking commissions,” he mocked, pointing out that despite repeatedly challenging the Chief Minister to prove his claims, there has been no response.
Addressing party leaders after unveiling Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue at Dasya Naik Thanda in Parigi constituency of Vikarabad on Saturday, Rama Rao remarked that the Congress government’s honeymoon period had concluded and that the real test of governance would begin now.
He charged Revanth Reddy with making unfulfilled promises, particularly regarding crop loan waivers, financial aid for farmers, and welfare schemes. He challenged the Chief Minister to prove that farmers received the promised Rs.12,000 in aid, asserting that no one had benefitted.
“Revanth Reddy challenged Chandrashekhar Rao to come to the Assembly. I have repeatedly dared Revanth Reddy and would challenge him again, to come to his Kodangal constituency without security. If all the farmers confirm his claims, I will quit politics,” he reiterated.
The BRS working president also criticised the handling of the Rythu Bandhu scheme, alleging that the Congress government had failed to disburse the rightful dues to farmers. He said the Revanth Reddy administration owed each farmer Rs.17,500 per acre and urged them to demand their dues when Congress leaders seek votes in upcoming local body elections.
Reaffirming BRS’s commitment to Dr BR Ambedkar’s vision, Rama Rao highlighted the previous BRS government’s contributions, including the conversion of 52 tribal tandas into gram panchayats and significant development initiatives in Parigi constituency over the past decade.
He emphasised that freedom of speech and fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution allowed leaders to criticise governance and hold those in power accountable. He also reminded Telangana State was realised through the Article 3 in the Constitution.
Meanwhile, the BRS cadre took out a massive rally, welcoming Rama Rao upon his arrival in Parigi. Senior BRS leaders including former Ministers P Sabitha Indra Reddy and V Srinivas Goud, attended in large numbers.
