Telangana: Lockdown violators shifted to isolation centres in Peddapalli

Those moving around on roads in violation of the rules are now caught and shifted to the Covid isolation center.

Peddapalli: Police officers in Ramagundam have begun enforcing a novel rule that those violating the lockdown conditions be sent to covid isolation centres. Those moving around on roads in violation of the rules are now caught and shifted to the Covid isolation center. On the first day on Thursday, some youngsters were shifted to Sultanabad isolation center and were released after a thorough counselling on the need to follow the lockdown protocols.

Peddapalli DCP P Ravinder along with ACPs Umender and Nikitha Panth and other police officers on Thursday took up patrolling in Godavarikhani police station limits. A vehicle fitted with a banner announcing that the rule violators woud be shifted to Sultanabad Covid Isolation center. Youngsters moving on roads without any valid reason were rounded up and taken to Sultanabad.

DCP Ravinder said some youngsters were moving on roads citing different reasons. There was no change in their attitude though vehicles have been seized. To bring change in their attitude, they have taken up an innovative punishment programme. From Thursday onwards, a special drive would be taken up every day, he informed.
