Telangana: Millet Sisters network celebrates fourth formation day

Millet farmers being felicitated at KVK Didgi in Sangareddy district
Sangareddy: All Indian Millets Sisters Network celebrated the fourth formation day at KVK Didgi near Zaheerabad on Tuesday.
While the Deccan Development Society (DDS) hosted the programme, 100 women farmers from 10 states participated in the celebrations.
Agriculture Scientist Sheik N Mira said that the government should follow in the footsteps of the millet sisters to encourage its cultivation and consumption.
While the governments were focusing on improving nutritional values in rice by spending crores of rupees on research, he said it is sad to know they forgot that millets contains nutrients abundantly.
NABARD Deputy General Manager Swathi Tiwari said that the governments worked for decades to improve agriculture productivity. She said they have realised that the nutritional values and climate change were also key.
The women farmers were felicitated on this occasion. Zaheerabad MLA K Manik Rao and others were present.
