Hyderabad: SC and ST Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar on Friday directed officials to address issues being faced by organisations in the installation of statues of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, BR Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram and other eminent personalities.
The Minister held a review meeting here on Friday. Issues being faced by organisations in Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Ranga Reddy district were discussed.
Representatives of Dalit associations, youth organisations and community leaders highlighted several issues, including disputes over sites, delays in permissions, objections at the local level, police clearances and revenue-related complications.
The Minister directed Collectors, Revenue officials, GHMC and the Police Department to coordinate effectively to ensure there were no unnecessary delays in statue installations. “It is inappropriate to unnecessarily register cases against leaders of Dalit associations. Focus on resolving issues while respecting public sentiments and maintaining law and order,” Laxman Kumar said to officials.
