Telangana POPSKs facilitate over 1.66 lakh passport transactions in 2025-26: Chief PMG

Fourteen Post Office Passport Seva Kendras in Telangana facilitated 1.66 lakh passport transactions during 2025-26, while 87,100 more services were delivered up to September 2026, according to Telangana Circle Chief PMG DSVR Murthy.

Hyderabad: Fourteen Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) in Telangana facilitated 1,66,478 passport transactions during 2025-26, with another 87,100 transactions recorded up to September 2026, Telangana Circle Chief Postmaster General DSVR Murthy said.

Speaking to presspersons here on the rollout of APT 2.0 (digital transformation) in the Telangana postal department, Murthy said, “An indigenously developed technology platform has marked an important milestone for post offices. The DIGIPIN, or Digital Postal Index Number, developed with IIT Hyderabad and ISRO’s National Remote Sensing Centre, provides a standardised 10-character, geo-coded digital address reference.”


The 24-Speed Post and 48-Speed Post services, introduced in Hyderabad on March 17, 2026, have recorded more than 1.33 lakh articles and provided time-bound delivery across 94 PIN codes, he said.

Murthy said World Post Day commemorates the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874 and this year’s theme, “One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities,” reflects India Post’s transformation into a modern, technology-enabled and citizen-centric service organisation while retaining its extensive physical presence.

Meanwhile, the Chief PMG distributed prizes to Telangana Circle winners of the UPU International Letter Writing Competition 2026.
