Hyderabad: Claiming that many poets, intellectuals, cabinet Ministers and others had approved the new design of the Telangana Thalli statue, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy unveiled the statue on the Secretariat premises here on Monday.
The Chief Minister also said that many poets and artists had played a crucial role in Telangana agitation. In recognition of their contributions, the State government would allot house sites of 300 yards each and financial assistance of Rs.1 crore to prominent poets and artists, including Gude Anjaiah, balladeer Gaddar, Bandi Yadagiri, Andesri, Goreti Venkanna, Suddala Ashokteja, Jayaraj, Pasham Yadagiri and Yekka Yadagiri, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister claimed that poets, intellectuals, Cabinet Ministers and others had approved the Telangana Thalli design. Stating that the statue was a replica of their mothers, he said they had cautioned him that a few political parties might try to politicize the issue and asked him not to heed them, he said.
“In future, if anyone tries to change the design or demeans this programme, there is scope for initiating legal action against them,” Revanth Reddy said.
