Hyderabad: Telangana has recorded a striking 84.3 per cent growth in per capita Net State Domestic Product (NSDP) at constant prices between 2013-14 and 2023-24, according to data presented by Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The State was ranked third among major Indian States for a decade-long growth.
The per capita NSDP rose from Rs 96,039 in 2013-14 to Rs 1,77,000 in 2023-24 at constant prices, reflecting sustained industrial growth, agricultural productivity, and an expanding services sector during the previous BRS regime. Telangana’s performance kept it ahead of many larger states, trailing only Gujarat (90.7 per cent) and Karnataka (88.5 per cent) among the major economies.
The upward trajectory continued in the financial year 2024–25, with per capita NSDP reaching Rs 1,87,912, recording an 85.3 per cent rise over 2014–15 at constant prices. The State outperformed several other large States, indicating its robust economic fundamentals and sustained growth momentum.
Former Finance Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao attributed the achievement to the combination of development and welfare initiatives of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
“The rise in per capita income at constant prices signifies a true enhancement of people’s purchasing power. The 10 years of the KCR government achieved true progress for its people,” he said.
