Telangana Sangeetha Nataka Academy hosts cultural night of dance and drama at Ravindra Bharathi

Hyderabad: A dance drama festival titled “Dance Drama Sourabham”, organised by Telangana Sangeetha Nataka Academy, recently captivated a packed audience at Ravindra Bharathi.
The festival featured performances, including a Bharatanatyam dance drama by Varna Arts, led by dance exponent Smita Madhav. The performance began with a traditional Pushpanjali, followed by “Atmavat Sarvat Bhuteshu,” a dance ballet based on the devotional Rasa of the Adiparvam from the Vyasa Mahabharata.
The festival also showcased the renowned folk drama ‘Charandas Chor’, originally written in Hindi by Habib Tanvir. The drama was translated and directed in Telugu by the late Garikapati Udayabhana under the direction of Sunil. The play tells the story of a thief who lives by his own set of rules and how he transforms his life.
On the occasion, Dr Veludanda Nityananda Rao, VC, Telugu University, praised the Academy for its various cultural events.
Several dignitaries, including Dr Veludanda Nityananda Rao, Amita Desai, Director of Goethe Zentrum, and Kalwa Sujatha, Chairperson of the Telangana Arya Vaishya Corporation, Dr Alekshaya Punjala, president of the Telangana Sangeetha Nataka Academy, were present.
The cultural night was anchored by M Dakshinamoorthy and overseen by R Vinod Kumar, OSD of the Telangana Sangeetha Nataka Academy.
