Hyderabad: Farmers across the State are all set to get improvised services through the Dharani portal, simplifying maintenance of agricultural land records and registration of farmlands in the State. Following the recent announcement in the State Assembly, officials have been directed to add seven new modules to the website, strengthening and securing the land records.
The portal has been rendering quality services to farmers by maintaining land records and also facilitating smooth transactions pertaining to farmland registrations. The State government has set a new benchmark in this regard and has been constantly updating the system to provide improved services by resolving even the smallest of challenges faced by farmers in safeguarding their lands as well as carrying out land transactions in a smooth manner.
During the recent Assembly Budget session, Legislative Affairs Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy, responding to questions on behalf of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, informed the House that new modules would be introduced in Dharani to deal with missing survey numbers and other issues as per the directions of the Cabinet Sub-committee constituted for the same. The Cabinet sub-committee chaired by Finance Minister T Harish Rao made recommendations that were submitted to the Chief Minister for his approval.
Subsequently, the portal was being strengthened to minimise official intervention and prevent corruption as well as maintain transparency. Currently, farmers can easily check details of their land and if needed, can even download a copy of their pattadar passbooks on their smartphones in a secured manner.
To make Dharani more farmer-friendly and also address certain challenges faced by ryots due to clerical errors, the government has already devolved to the District Collectors the power to take decisions with regard to issues pertaining to the prohibited lands listed on the Dharani portal. They are also empowered to take up cases suo motu or upon receiving personal grievances from the farmers.
Further, as per the recommendations of the Cabinet sub-committee, the Chief Minister is learnt to have asked the officials concerned to create provisions for seven new modules at the earliest. As a result, the new modules will allow the farmers to correct clerical errors pertaining to wrong entry of name, survey numbers, the extent of land and other details. The new modules will also allow the entry of more than one seller and buyer, among others. Further, the buyers can also appoint their representative with a special power of attorney.
The prohibited lands form only a minuscule portion of the total 1.63 crore acres of agricultural land. The records have been verified for a total of 1.52 crore acres belonging to 66 lakh farmers, and passbooks have been issued. Since its launch, Dharani has carried out over 16.96 crore transactions which resulted in revenue generation of Rs 2,324.22 crore till February 2022.
