Hyderabad: Opposing the State government’s decision to replace the current grade point average with marks-based assessment in the SSC Public Exams, the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) Telangana committee on Friday said such a move would lead to inequalities among students.
In a statement, SFI state president RL Murthy and general secretary T Nagaraju said bringing in marks-based assessment leads to unhealthy competition among students, who would enroll for corporate and private institutions for scoring high marks and ranks in exams.
Students have already appeared for two formative assessment exams and a summative assessment exam. Changes being brought by the State government should not be implemented from the current academic year so it would create confusion among students as 90 days left for the exams.
Any decision taken by the government should be implemented from the next academic year so that students would have enough time to prepare as per new changes, they added.
