Hyderabad: The Telangana Best Available Scheme Parents Association has threatened to lay siege to the Assembly during the upcoming Budget session if the State government fails to release Rs 218 crore.
In a statement released on Saturday, association president Mathangi Amar and general secretary Satavath Ramesh Naik said the Congress government has failed to release the dues for the past three academic years.
They alleged that by not immediately releasing funds meant for SC and ST students, the Congress government was pushing the students’ future into darkness.
The BAS schools, according to parents, would not be able to admit students from the next academic year due to outstanding dues from the government.
The scheme was introduced to provide education to economically weaker SC and ST students in corporate and private schools.
Parents complained that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who is also serving as the Education Minister, has still not responded to the issue.
“Keeping the future of poor SC and ST students in mind, the association, along with 30,000 Dalit and tribal families, will be forced to lay siege to the Assembly during the Budget session if the funds are not released immediately,” they added.
