Hyderabad: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral roll in Telangana is set to begin with house-to-house enumeration on June 25 and draft electoral roll publication on July 31. After conclusion of enumeration on July 24 and publication of the draft electoral roll, claims and objections can be submitted between July 31 and August 30.

Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy, while speaking to media persons here on Saturday, said except for the Enumeration Form (EF), no other document is collected during the enumeration phase.

The notice serving phase will be conducted between July 31 and September 28, with the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) issuing notices to persons who could not be linked or if there is discrepancy in their linking with the electoral roll of the last revision. The ERO will publish lists of such persons to whom notices have been issued.

People who receive notices from the ERO can submit one of the 12 listed documents, including Aadhaar card, birth certificate, passport, matriculation/educational certificate, permanent residence, forest right certificate, and OBC, SC, ST or any caste certificate. The final electoral roll publication is scheduled for October 1.

Prior to draft electoral roll publication, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will distribute the partially pre-printed EFs to each existing elector. They will help the elector fill the EF and collect it.

A BLO is supposed to make at least three visits to the house of each elector and collect Form 6 along with declaration form for inclusion as a new elector. An elector can also fill the EF online via the ECI’s website https://voters.eci.govi.in.

As part of the pre-SIR electoral mapping, the State has a total of 3,39,24,664 electors and 2,18,39,741 (64.38 per cent) mapped. Telangana’s population stood at 3,50,03,674, with 1,76,11,633 men and 1,73,92,041 women, as per Census 2011.

Telangana has a total of 119 Assembly constituencies, with 19,942 polling station locations and 35,985 polling stations. The last SIR in the State was carried out in 2002 when Telangana was part of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.
