Hyderabad: Over 5.25 lakh electors have been marked for inclusion in Telangana’s final electoral rolls without hearings as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Among the districts, Rangareddy recorded the highest number, with 1,17,122 electors marked for final inclusion without hearings as of Sunday. Medchal-Malkajgiri followed with 1,13,601.

According to data from the office of the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer, more than 90 per cent of the 92,65,731 electors who received SIR notices have been marked for inclusion in the final electoral rolls.

Before the SIR exercise began, Telangana had 3,38,26,448 electors. Of these, 2,64,87,213 submitted enumeration forms, while 73,39,235 were categorised under absent, shifted, dead and duplicate (ASDD) entries.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) generated notices for 92,88,188 electors who submitted enumeration forms but either could not be mapped to the 2002 SIR list or had logical discrepancies, such as spelling errors in their names and discrepancies in their age details. Of these, 92,65,731 notices had been delivered as of Sunday.

Hearings were completed for 89,75,562 electors. Of these, 84,03,355 were marked for inclusion in the final publication. This figure includes 56,86,890 electors with logical discrepancies and 27,16,465 who could not be mapped to the 2002 SIR list.

As of Sunday, the hearing dates for 3,02,925 electors had lapsed. Another 9,699 electors who had rescheduled their hearings failed to attend. Among the cases taken up for verification, District Election Officers (DEOs) verified 34,66,765 applications, while 16,534 remained pending. Of the pending applications, 4,030 had been awaiting disposal for more than five days.

Overall, 2,50,85,204 electors have been marked for addition to the final electoral rolls. More than 30,000 individuals were also found ineligible for inclusion in the final list.

Under the revised schedule, the process of issuing notices and disposing of claims and objections will conclude on November 5. The final electoral rolls will be published on November 9.
