Hyderabad: The Telangana government has announced a major reduction in Metro-RTC combined travel pass fares as a Diwali gift to commuters.

The daily combined pass fare has been reduced from Rs 400 to Rs 275, comprising Rs 200 for Metro travel and Rsv75 for RTC services. It allows four single journeys a day.

Meanwhile, the monthly pass price has been slashed from Rsv8,500 to Rs 4,000, with Rs 3,000 allocated for Metro travel and Rs 1,000 for RTC services. It allows up to 50 round trips a month.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the revised fares would help commuters save Rsv125 on daily passes and Rs 4,500 on monthly passes.

The new fares will come into effect from November 8.

He said the move was aimed at reducing the financial burden on commuters and making public transport more affordable.
