Hyderabad: In a major boost to the legal fraternity, the Telangana State Bar Council on Wednesday announced a substantial increase in welfare benefits for advocates across the State. The death claim amount provided to the families of deceased lawyers has been raised from Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh.
This announcement was made by Bar Council Chairman Narasimha Reddy, Vice Chairman Sunil Goud, and Bar Council of India Member Vishnuvardhan Reddy at a press conference held in Hyderabad.
The Council also declared that the funeral expenses for deceased advocates have been enhanced from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000, and the financial assistance towards medical treatment for advocates suffering from illness will be increased to Rs. 1 lakh.
Additionally, the library loan limit has been revised from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000. All these revised benefits will come into effect from October 6.
Speaking to the media, the Council members reiterated their appeal to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to fulfill the State government’s pending promises to the legal community.
They urged the government to immediately release the Rs. 100 crore fund promised for advocate welfare, enhance the health insurance coverage for lawyers to Rs. 5 lakh, provide a monthly stipend of Rs. 10,000 to junior lawyers, and enact an Advocate Protection Act to prevent the increasing attacks on lawyers across the State.
