Telangana swimmers Vritti, Rithvika win silver medals at Senior National aquatics championship
Telangana swimmers Vritti Agarwal and Mittapali Rithvika clinched silver medals at the 79th Senior National Aquatics Championship in Ahmedabad. Vritti finished second in the women’s 1500m freestyle, while Rithvika secured silver in the 50m breaststroke event.

Hyderabad: Telangana swimmers Vritti Agarwal and Mittapalli Rithvika clinched silver medals at the 79th Senior National Aquatics Championship 2026, organised by the Swimming Federation of India, in Ahmedabad.
The championship is being held at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex Swimming Pool, Narayanpuram, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from June 16 to June 21, 2026.
Vritti won silver in the women’s 1500m freestyle event after clocking 17:22.17. She finished second behind Maharashtra’s Aditi Satish Hegde, who secured the gold medal with a timing of 17:20.82. Sri Charani Tumu of Karnataka finished third with a timing of 17:49.09.
In the women’s 50m breaststroke event, Telangana’s Mittapalli Rithvika also bagged a silver medal with a timing of 33.63 seconds. She finished behind Karnataka’s A.K. Lineysha, who won gold with a timing of 33.51 seconds, while S. Lakshya of Karnataka secured the bronze medal with a timing of 33.84 seconds.
On the opening day of the national-level swimming competition on June 16, Rithvika, representing Telangana and hailing from Nizamabad district, delivered a strong performance in the closely contested 50m breaststroke event. Her second-place finish earned her a silver medal at the national championship.
Rithvika was congratulated on her achievement by Nizamabad Urban MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, Telangana Swimming Association President Chandrasekhar Reddy, Association Secretary Umesh and Vice-President G. Maipal Reddy.
They lauded Mittapalli Rithvika for bringing laurels to Telangana with her remarkable performance at the national championship.
