Hyderabad: Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Monday said Telangana has set an ambitious goal of becoming a three trillion dollar economy by 2047.
Addressing the Republic Day celebrations at the Parade Grounds here, he said the Telangana Rising – Vision 2047 document, unveiled during the Global Summit last month, laid out a roadmap to achieve the long-term economic target.
Referring to key urban and environmental initiatives, the Governor said the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited has prepared a Master Plan for a 55 km stretch of the Musi river from Osman Sagar to Gowrelli (ORR East) and from Himayath Sagar up to Gandhi Sarovar at Bapu Ghat.
“The Aggregate Master Plan, which is under development, includes Blue, Green, Land Use, Infrastructure and Financial Master Plans along with a revenue generation model, aimed at sustainable river restoration and urban renewal,” he said.
He also said the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation policy was introduced to relocate polluting industries outside the ORR, while allowing industrial unit owners to convert their lands for multi-use purposes.
With an emphasis on planned urban growth, the Government expanded the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation by merging 27 municipalities within the CURE area, increasing its jurisdiction from 650 square kilometres to 2,053 square kilometres. The GHMC has since been reorganised into 300 wards, 60 circles and 12 zones, he added.
